Man, I've been studying this book (ZMM) for over twenty years... it's a great book... not an easy read though...

My favorite passage from the book is this one...

Quote:
The real University, he said, has no specific location. It owns no property, pays no salaries and receives no material dues. The real University is a state of mind.

It is that great heritage of rational thought that has been brought down to us through the centuries and which does not exist at any specific location.

It’s a state of mind which is regenerated throughout the centuries by a body of people who traditionally carry the title of professor, but even that title is not part of the real University. The real University is nothing less than the continuing body of reason itself.

Man, I dowloaded his "Dare to be Great" speech off Michael Senoff's site and was blown away by it..!! I also hear the interview Senoff did with him and he tells his whole story and I agree woth you Shamou, the guy has SO much heart and perhaps he put it in the wrong places...

He said that he just believed that if you did the right thing and told the truth, it would all be fine and dandy.... thats when he also said he was niave at that time.

I will try and find the audio clip for you guys...
The first time I ever saw Glenn he was giving a motivational speech at a Chiropractor's banquet in Dallas Texas... there were about 6000 of us in the room and at the front of the room there were about 100 doctors sitting at the table of honor which was raised about 6 feet so that every one could see them...

At the end of the dinner, Turner was introduced and he jumped on on the table with mike in hand and started giving his speech WHILE WALKING BACK AND FORTH ON THE TABLE... stepping on the plates and whatever was on that table...

His mike was turned way up... the sound was deafening and seeing him walking like a soldier on that banquet table, breaking a few hundred plates in the process, was unbelievable...

Ten minutes in the speech... the place was going wild... I was so pumped-up that it took me about a week to get back to normal...

When I got back to the office, I wrote him a letter telling him how much I appreciated his speech... and HE ANSWERED that letter long hand...

I have met hundreds of motivational speakers but never anyone who could compare... that guy was out of this world...

A month after that incident, I flew back to Huston Texas to hear him again... but by that time he was in deep trouble with the law... and I did not get to hear him...

I only talked to the guy for about 5 minutes but I'll never forget the experience... he was energy incarnate... one of a kind...

Default Dan Pink on Motivation

Has anybody read Dan Pink's "Drive"? I'm reading it now. There are some interesting concepts in that book - reward based motivation vs motivation just because you want to do something.

He discusses what motivates you in this video: Dan Pink on Motivation.

I'd like your thoughts on the book itself as I try to wrap it up. Is there a book section here to discuss books?
